Our Chinchillas Past & Present

Our chinchillas are the heart of Setareh Chinchillas. They’re the reason we focus on education, safe supplies, and creating wellness sprinkles with ingredients we trust. Every product we offer and every guide we write comes from real hands-on experience and a deep respect for these incredible animals.

We’ve worked with chins on many levels — from healthy adults to rescues, fosters, and even a newborn who had to be bottle-raised from just a few days old. Each chin we’ve cared for over the years has shaped our understanding of health, enrichment, and kindness. The lessons they’ve taught us are what we pass on to other chin owners.

Today, our current crew inspires everything we do. They remind us that chinchillas are more than pets — they’re tiny personalities wrapped in fur, capable of joy, trust, and deep bonds with the right care.

Our promise is simple:

If we wouldn’t give it to our own chins, we won’t offer it to yours.

Because Pippin deserved the best —
and so does every chin.

Current Chinchillas at Setareh Chinchillas

Pippin — Hetero Beige, 2 years old

Cuddly, gentle, and proudly in charge of quality control, Pippin is the chin who started it all. He’s currently “learning the ropes,” which mostly means supervising cage cleanings, demanding attention, and reminding us that every crinkle of a bag might contain snacks.

Favorite treats? Bee pollen, raisins, Cheerios… honestly, Pippin has never met a treat he didn’t like.
Fun fact: He’s the chin who reignited our passion for chinchillas — and inspired Pippin’s™ wellness sprinkles.

Mochi — Black Standard, 4 years old

Mochi is our soft, snuggly cuddlebug. If there’s a lap or a cozy blanket around, he’s already claimed it. He’s a gentle soul with a sweet heart — but don’t let that fool you. The moment he hears a treat bag crinkle, he moves faster than physics should allow. His top favorites: goji berries and oat groats. Simple, crunchy, and absolutely Mochi-approved.

Fun Fact:  Mochi is trained to come when fingers are wiggled, he also knows that means that he's about to be picked up.  He climbs onto your arm if you put it next to the cage and have a treat in your hand.  He is a gentle soul, and we are smitten with him!!!!!!

More chins coming soon…
We’re a growing chin family, and this page will update as new fluffs join the crew. Pippin is patiently waiting for future friends to boss around… we mean, mentor. 😄
