✅ How to Use Our Sprinkles

Safe • Simple • Chinchilla-Approved

Chinchillas have delicate digestive systems, so sprinkles should always be tiny, occasional additions — never daily food or treat replacements. Each of Pippin’s blends is designed to be a small enrichment boost, not a major diet item.

Here’s how to use them safely:

✅ General Serving Guidelines

✔ Start tiny — just a light pinch at first
✔ Offer sparingly (most sprinkles are 2–3× per week or less)
✔ Monitor stool and appetite anytime you add a new food
✔ Always provide unlimited hay, water, and high-quality pellets
✔ Skip sugary treats on sprinkle days

Because chins are sensitive, less is more — always.

✅ How to Serve Sprinkles

You can offer sprinkles in a few safe ways:

✅ Over pellets
Lightly dust the top so the chin smells and explores it

✅ Mixed into hay
Great for natural foraging and enrichment

✅ In a tiny dish
For chins who like to “inspect” food first

✅ Hand-fed
Many chins will take a pinch right from your fingers — great for bonding

Choose whichever method keeps your chin curious and comfortable.

✅ How Often Should My Chin Get Sprinkles?

Each blend has its own serving suggestion, but in general:
    •    Power Mix: tiny pinch every other day
    •    Wellness & Vitality: 2–3× per week
    •    Happy Belly Blend: only every 1–2 months or for occasional tummy support
    •    Honey Dust: 2–3× per week, a micro-pinch only

If your chin ever has soft stool, diarrhea, constipation, or isn’t eating, stop all sprinkles and contact an exotics veterinarian.

✅ When Sprinkles Can Be Helpful

Sprinkles can offer a little boost when:

✔ settling into a new home
✔ mild stress (moving, noise, cage changes)
✔ post-vet visit or anesthesia
✔ slight tummy slowdown
✔ temporary picky appetite
✔ enrichment and boredom-busting

Sprinkles are not medication — if something seems wrong, always call a vet.

✅ When NOT to Use Sprinkles

❌ During diarrhea or suspected GI stasis
❌ With sugary fruits or treats on the same day
❌ For chins with known food allergies or respiratory issues
❌ As a regular “treat replacement” every single day
❌ For kits that are not fully weaned

A little goes a long way.

✅ Storage & Freshness
    •    Keep sprinkles air-tight
    •    Store away from heat, moisture, and sunlight
    •    Refrigerate or freeze products that contain flax or wheat germ
    •    Shake or stir gently before serving to keep ingredients distributed
